Where is the Interconnections Conference taking place?
The conference will be held at the German Development Institute/Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE), Tulpenfeld 6, 53113 Bonn, Germany. The nearest train stations are Bonn main station (Bonn Hbf) and Intercity Express (ICE) station Siegburg/Bonn. The nearest airports are Cologne/Bonn Airport, Frankfurt Airport, and Düsseldorf Airport. The best way to reach the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitk (DIE) is by subway (lines U16/63 or U66) or by bus (lines 610 and 611) from Bonn Central Station (Hauptbahnhof).
- Take the U-Bahn (Subway) U16/U63 or U66 towards “Bad Honnef / Bad Godesberg” and get off at the station “Heussallee / Museumsmeile”.
- You may buy your ticket at vending machines either at the Station or on board (choose ticket type 1b; 2.80 Euro, coins only).
- Subway services are available directly to the DIE from ICE Bahnhof Siegburg/Bonn using subway line U66 (i.e. stop Heussallee/Museumsmeile, about 30 minutes).
- Cologne/Bonn Airport offers an express bus service (SB60). The bus leaves every 20 minutes, please follow the signs at the airport.The ride to Bonn central station (Hauptbahnhof) takes about 30 minutes.
Why is the Interconnections Conference taking place during the Bonn Climate Change Conference?
In keeping with our commitment to not only engage academia and north-based experts, we hold the conference in parallel with the Bonn Climate Conference (8-18 May); at a short walking distance from the negotiations venue; allowing interaction between practitioners, policy makers, officials and academic and non-academic experts.
Do you provide support for participants to the Interconnections Conference?
We look for contributions from around the world, and provide limited travel and accommodation funding for participants from developing countries. Funding options are only available to accepted speakers. More information to follow.
Where does the conference dinner take place and how can I register?
The conference dinner will be held on Friday evening 12 May, at ‘Remise’, Fritz-Erler-Straße 7, 53113 Bonn. Due to logistical arrangements, we need to know the number of people joining us for dinner. Please register through the link you received via email. Note that participation in the conference dinner will only be possible after registration, which closes 7 May!
When do I get notice about my submitted abstract?
Notification of acceptance will be given by 6 March, full research, discussion, and briefing papers are due by 1 May 2017.
How do I submit my full paper and are there any instructions on length, format or layout?
Full papers are expected latest by 1 May and can be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, please use subject line: [Abstract #]_ [Author Surname]_[Title], use the same line as name of the document (PDF format). We encourage a length of 10 to maximum 15 pages. We do not have strict guidelines on layout and format; should you be hesitant feel free to use this Template Paper Submission.
How do I prepare for my presentation?
If you are to present a paper and want to use slides, we invite you to send us your presentation by 11 May 2017 (PDF format) via email to email@example.com. You can also hand in your presentations via USB stick at the registration desk at the conference.
How do I arrange accomodation in Bonn?

What is the Vision Factory and how can I engage?
We would like to draw your attention to an innovative programme element, namely the vision factory. During this session (13 May 1:30-2:30 pm) conference participants are invited to share their (max.) 5-minute message, to inspire us with visionary and inspirational ideas for climate and sustainability action and research. If you are interested to take the floor, make a short pitch in an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will accommodate around five vision factory presentations.
